Hello! My name is Unisha, and I'm the maker, teacher, and creative heart behind More Than Threads. I'm a longtime resident of the Flathead Valley, a homeschooling mom of five incredible boys, and someone who has always found joy in creating things by hand.
My journey into fiber arts began in 2018 with hand knitting and embroidery. What started as a creative outlet quickly became a passion. I spent countless hours making hats, mittens, scarves, shawls, headbands, earrings, and eventually sweaters—simply because I loved bringing beautiful ideas to life with fiber. Before long, friends and customers began asking for custom pieces, and what I never expected to become a business naturally grew into More Than Threads.
For more than seven years, I've been creating handcrafted knitwear, embroidered pieces, fiber art, and one-of-a-kind tapestries. Along the way, I discovered that creating wasn't enough—I wanted to help others experience that same joy. For the past four years, I've had the privilege of teaching knitting and fiber arts to children and adults throughout the Flathead Valley. More recently, my curiosity has led me even deeper into the fiber arts, learning traditional skills such as preparing wool directly from the sheep, carding, spinning, weaving, and tapestry design. Every new technique opens another door to creativity, and I love seeing ideas that begin in my imagination come to life through color, texture, and fiber.
I created this website to bring everything together in one place. Here you can explore my handcrafted work, request custom commissions, browse available pieces, and learn about the knitting and fiber arts classes I offer through Flathead Fiber Arts. Whether you're looking for a meaningful handmade gift, a custom heirloom piece, or a place to learn a new skill, I'm so glad you're here.
People often ask why I do this. Creativity takes time. I have even asked myself this question. The answer goes far beyond knitting or fiber arts.
Through creative exploration, I've discovered that beauty has a remarkable way of bringing healing and peace. Creativity invites us to explore, to imagine, and to take risks. It asks us to move beyond what feels comfortable and into something full of wonder. Pain, trauma, and disappointment often convince us to stay within the limits of what we can control. Creativity calls us in the opposite direction. It reminds us that play is not childish—it is good for the soul. It gives us permission to wonder, to experiment, and to create something beautiful that didn't exist before.
I believe our desire to create reflects the Creator Himself. Every time we make something beautiful, we're participating in one of the oldest stories ever told—the story of bringing beauty, order, and hope into the world.
Imagine a world without color, texture, pattern, or beauty. A world where everything was practical but nothing inspired awe. Most of us wouldn't want to live there. Beauty enriches our lives, draws us together, and points us toward something greater than ourselves. I believe the desire to create is one of the gifts we've been given, and when we pursue beauty, we participate in something deeply meaningful.
That is the heart of More Than Threads.
My passion is not simply to make beautiful things, but to invite others into the creative journey. Whether through a handcrafted piece that becomes part of your story or through a class where you discover the joy of working with fiber for the first time, my hope is that you'll experience the peace, wonder, and delight that creativity has brought into my own life.
